Dr. Anne McNamara joined the Maricopa Health Foundation Board of Directors in January 2017 as part of her decades-long commitment to “advancing the profession of nursing” through quality educational and organizational programs.
Dr. McNamara is owner and principal of McNamara Solutions, a consulting firm specializing in point-of-care nurse competency and educational excellence for colleges and universities. She is dedicated to educating nurse leaders in all settings to focus on the importance of assuring an informed, competent nursing workforce.
McNamara has held local and national nursing leadership positions throughout her career – most recently serving as Executive Vice President at Isleworth Partners, parent company of the Galen College of Nursing and Galen Center for Professional Development, in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, while at Galen, she served as President of the Galen College of Nursing, successfully securing the school’s programmatic accreditation for four academic programs and initiating the pre-licensure BSN. From 2007 to 2014, McNamara served as Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Professions at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. At GCU, she expanded programs that met the highest standards of academic excellence and the educational needs of the nation.
Her ties to Maricopa Integrated Health System go back to 1992 when she served more than five years as the health system’s Director of Nursing Research and Chief Quality Officer. While in the CQO position, MIHS was awarded JCAHO accreditation with accommodation.
In addition to her involvement with Maricopa Health Foundation, McNamara serves as Board Secretary for the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and as an Advisory Board Member for Project Cure, the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world.
Her previous roles include Treasurer of the American Nurses Association, President of the Arizona Nurses Association, First and Second Vice President and Chairman of the Arizona Nurses Foundation Board of Trustees, Scottsdale Healthcare Board Member from 2001 to 2011 and she chaired the Scottsdale Healthcare Board of Directors Quality Committee.
A graduate of Worcester State University College of Nursing, Dr. McNamara received her Master’s degree in Nursing from Arizona State University and her Doctorate degree in Nursing from University of Arizona.
