In late February, four-year-old Kevin Vicente was mauled by a pitbull in south Phoenix. He was rushed to Maricopa Medical Center with skin and tissue ripped off his face, a broken eye socket, detached tear ducts and a fractured jaw. He underwent 5 1/2 hours of surgery.
Kevin, whose face was mangled so badly that hospital workers were traumatized by his injuries, now eats and breathes through tubes while awaiting a series of reconstructive surgeries.

Thank you to the Maricopa Medical Center staff, especially Dr. Kara Geren, who helped stabilize Kevin, Dr. Jeffrey Salomone, Dr. Bentley Bobrow, Dr. Salvatore Lettieri, and the Phoenix Firefighters.
