Nurse Education Perpetual Scholarship Fund

Established by Maricopa Health Foundation in 2013, the Nurse Education Perpetual Scholarship Fund helps bridge the financial barriers for working nurses returning to school for advanced degrees or certification.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN PERPETUITY

A unique aspect of the Nurse Education Scholarship program is contained it its name: perpetuity. RNs who receive this scholarship will "pay-it-forward" upon completion of their education goals by paying back into the scholarship fund, the next generation of MIHS nurses will also be able to pursue advanced degrees and certifications.

Scholarship Committee

The goal of the scholarship committee is to award annually at least one scholarship to an RN who has been accepted into a Ph.D. Or DNP program, and one RN who has been accepted into a masters program in a nursing field.

Remaining Funds Distribution

The scholarship committee will distribute the remaining funds, as available, to assist RNs and LPNs who have been accepted into a bachelors of nursing program, or those who are pursuing advanced certification programs in specialties such as wound care, etc.

The need is enormous and every contribution helps ensure the foundation's ability to continue providing exceptional medical care to the most vulnerable members of the community, invest in research, support medical education, purchase equipment, and sponsor capital improvement projects at MIHS.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS PROCEDURE

This scholarship fund is open to nurses of Maricopa Integrated Health System who are:

  • MIHS RNs and LPNs who are employed full-time and part-time at ≥ 0.5 FTE
  • MIHS full-time IRP and UBP employees with ≥ 5 years employment
  • Employees in good standing (no written discipline for one year prior to initial application and for the duration of the program)
  • Licensed RNS in good standing with the Arizona Board of Nursing
  • Employed at MIHS for at least 6 months prior to applying
  • Accepted into an accredited: BSN program, msn program, DNP/Ph.D. program in nursing, or a certification program) such as Wound Ostomy Continence, Wound Care, etc.
  • Completed certification in your area of specialty, if you are applying for certification reimbursement
