October is Family Violence Awareness Month

Sep 11, 2013

A woman is assaulted or beaten every nine seconds. Each year, more than 3 million children witness domestic violence in their homes. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the United States. Three women perish at the hands of abusers daily.

To commemorate Family Violence Awareness Month, Mariposa: Wings to Safety is hosting a workshop series to bring awareness and provide education about the pandemic of family violence.

The workshops are appropriate for law enforcement, first responders, social workers, educators, health care professionals, students, adult and youth organization staff, and other community members.
